DSC (DIGITAL SIGNATURE CERTIFICATE)

WHAT IS DSC?

DSC stands for Digital Signature Certificate, which is an electronic document that is used to verify the authenticity and integrity of digital messages, documents, and transactions. A digital signature certificate (DSC) contains information about the user’s name, pin code, country, email address, date of issuance of certificate and name of the certifying authority.

A DSC is issued by a Certifying Authority (CA) after verifying the identity of the applicant. It contains the applicant’s name, email address, and public key, which is used to encrypt and decrypt messages. It is based on public-key cryptography and provides a high level of security for digital transactions.

A DSC is used in a wide range of applications, including e-filing of income tax returns, signing digital documents, and online transactions. It ensures the authenticity and integrity of the digital signature, making it virtually impossible for anyone to forge or alter it.

In India, DSC is issued by licensed Certifying Authorities (CAs) under the provisions of the Indian Information Technology Act, 2000. It is a legally valid and secure way to authenticate and sign digital documents and transactions.
